More and more people drink this healthy beverage as enjoyment, but are there side effects of soy milk? Most of the population still drink cow’s milk primarily, but should we transfer completely to soy milk or not?

Knowing that soy milk contains the same amount of proteins as cow’s milk, has no lactose what so ever, fewer people may have allergic reactions and doesn’t contain any hormones at all, doctors and nutritionists recommend being cautious when choosing soy milk as a substitute for cow’s.

In case you plan to include it as your daily diet, be aware that some health issues can occur. It is not proven that soy milk diet causes total male infertility, but it reduces sperm production and potential chances for impregnation. The risk is even higher for men who are overweight or obese. The other disadvantage is that soy milk contains minimal vitamins comparing to pasteurized.

It lacks magnesium (very significant for calcium absorption) and zinc (crucial for the immune system, as well as the performance of nervous and reproductive systems). Not enough calcium and magnesium can cause osteoporosis, too. Soy milk might not be the best solution for diabetics or people very precise about their sugar intake.
